Early 2017 feels like an age away, especially when you’re super looking forward to the next instalment in the saga of the Mishima Zaibatsu: Tekken 7. Luckily, we have events like Gamescom to shower us with new details and gameplay footage, and Tekken 7 was no exception.
Bandai Namco have revealed a number of details at the event. Firstly, fan favourite Lee Chaolan (and his alter-ego Violet) will be returning, which is music to my button bashing ears. Those kicks still haunt the dreams of the friends I’ve lost over the years.
However, the biggest news regards the much touted Story Mode. Bandai Namco have said it’s a campaign that’s several hours long, and won’t just be focused on the Mishima’s. There’ll be side arcs involving the rest of the roster, including new character Claudio, who is leading a group of exorcists in an investigation of the Mishima Zaibatsu. Sounds quite similar to the Mortal Kombat story modes, which were superb.
The more astonishing news is how expansive the story mode will actually be, as screenshots have been revealed of a flashback between Heihachi and a child version of Kazuya. He might look cute, but he’ll still wreck you with a Lightning Screw Uppercut…
